Marketing to Busy People Who Don’t Have the Time to Read

We are in the age of information overload, with so much information to choose from. So many new things are being put on our faces each day, and it’s getting more difficult to market your products or services to the top shots in your industry, who are always busy.

So, how can you catch their attention?

Storytelling.

Research has shown that effective storytelling is the best way to market yourself, a product or a service. Here are some storytelling tips to help you grab attention when needed.

  1. Show, don’t tell

As with writing a descriptive essay, feature stories, and so on, show what you want to communicate instead of just telling it. Which would catch your attention, a sales pitch with pictures, graphs, and videos or one with plain text? Research has shown that press releases containing multimedia get more responses than text releases.

  1. Craft catchy headlines

Headlines determine whether a story gets read, especially now when so many things are fighting for our attention. A catchy headline draws people to focus on your message. It acts as a strong hook to capture and hold people’s interest.

  1. Make information easy to digest

Most people tend to scan online content instead of reading word for word. Thus, make sure the content, sales pitch, and so on are easy to read and concise.

  1. Make your stories personal

Let your story connect with people. This speaks to everyone. People prefer to and pay more attention to stories that they can relate to, which they can picture in their minds and know are real. After all, they receive so many messages and see so much content.

  1. Package your content properly

Have all your distribution materials in one central location. When sending pitches, include all the elements in the same email or medium so they are easily found and consumed.

Do these, and your content, sales pitch, product pitch, etc., will be noted and action taken accordingly.
