We seek a Senior Communications Associate to support strategic communications, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement initiatives. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping narratives, amplifying development-focused regulatory reforms, and enhancing visibility for the organisation's thought leadership and impact across Africa.
This role requires strong storytelling abilities, a deep understanding of policy and governance issues, and demonstrated experience in both traditional and digital communications within a development, policy, or public affairs context.
● Design and implement communication strategies that advance the organisation’s mission, amplify policy advocacy efforts, and engage diverse stakeholder groups.
● Develop high-quality, accessible content for multiple platforms, including policy briefs, reports, case studies, blogs, newsletters, speeches, and social media.
● Translate complex policy, regulatory, and economic issues into compelling stories for external audiences, including donors, media, policymakers, and the public.
● Support media relations by preparing press releases, briefing documents, media kits, and coordinating interviews or op-eds.
● Lead content creation and campaign management for social media, website, and digital outreach, ensuring consistent messaging and brand positioning.
● Monitor political, regulatory, and development trends across Africa to inform proactive and responsive communications.
● Coordinate stakeholder communications for events, webinars, policy forums, and high-level meetings.
● Track and evaluate communications performance through media monitoring, digital analytics, and reporting.
● Contribute to proposal development and donor reporting by providing communications inputs, success stories, and visibility reports.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s or Master’s in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, Development Studies, Public Policy, or a related field.
● At least 3 - 5 years of professional experience in strategic communications, advocacy communications, development communications, or public affairs.
● Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to varied audiences.
● Strong understanding of governance, regulatory systems, public policy, and/or development issues in Africa.
● Experience managing social media platforms, digital content creation, and communications campaigns.
● Experience working with donor-funded organisations, development agencies, NGOS, or policy think tanks is highly desirable.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
